Essential Doctrine 3: Man is a sinner and will be judged

To be a Christian a person must believe that all men are sinners and God will judge each individual for their sins. The Bible says the following about sin:

Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.”

Romans 5:12 Therefore, just as through one man [Adam] sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned.”

Romans 6:23 For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Hebrews 9:27 Just as man is destined to die once, and after that to face judgment,

Romans 3:23 clearly teaches we are all sinners; every person who has ever lived has broken God’s laws. Romans 5:12 teaches the sin of Adam was passed down from him to us; no escapes the sin of Adam (original sin). Therefore, children are born with a sin nature (flesh) because of the sin of Adam. All sin will be judged. What will be the judgment?

When Paul writes “death through sin” he is speaking of spiritual death; eternal separation from God for all eternity when we die. Romans 6:23 says what we earn from sin is death (spiritual death) and the result will be eternity in hell. Hebrews 9:27 emphasizes after death comes judgment and the news is not good; we will endure torment for all eternity. Every human who has ever lived is in trouble; we have got to solve the sin problem.

There is good news. Through trusting in Jesus Christ we can be forgiven. The later half of Romans 6:23 speaks of the gift of God is eternal life. Through the confession of sin and believing that Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay the penalty for our sins and committing our life to following Jesus, we can be forgiven. The free gift of God is eternal life and is available to all who believe. Become a follower of Jesus today.
